Alota New Stuff Goin' On

Yesterday was a very busy and hectic day for me. Despite that, I was able to create a total of 3 cards! I never get to create that many in one day. Here are 2 of the 3 cards that I made to share with you today. They are both cards made with stamps from Alota Rubber stamps. I love these cute little bugs!

This first card is made with the stamp called Cutting Rose Bugs. This was a fun image to color and can be used for any occassion. This would make a great card for Mother's Day or a thinking of you card.

This is a close up of the bugs, and that I have added shimmerz to their wings to shine. I have also airbrushed the sky in the background as well as the grass.

My next card features another new stamp from Alota called The Sterner's. Here are those cute bugs again, and this time they are welcoming a brand new baby to the world. =) I decided to make this a card for a boy since one of my co-workers is expecting and will be having a boy!

Baby cards are another kind of card that is great to have a stash of.

A White Christmas

Hello blogland! Looks like yesterday's card was supposed to be posted later this week, I never realized that until it was already mid afternoon. I will be creating another card for that challenge during the week. Anyway, this is the post that was supposed to be up yesterday but never made it~ there was something weird with blogger, but now seems to be fixed. The challenge this week for Christmas Stampin' All Year Long is to create a white card for Christmas. I really loved this challenge because white is very pretty and so soft for the holidays. Here in Hawaii, we don't always have a white Christmas unless you are either on the Big Island or Maui high up in the mountains. Well, I decided to finally use this set from The Greeting Farm called Rain, Snow and Shine. Obviously, this is snow.

To create my card, I wanted it to have a really snowy feeling so I stamped and colored my image, then ran it through the cuttlebug folder. Doesn't she look like she is standing outside with the snow falling on her? One other thing I did was use my scor pal to dry emboss the lines going across the plain white cardstock behind my image just to add a little texture to the card.

A Little Jingle Jangle Goes A Long Way

Time for another copic creations challenge! The challenge this time around is to color brunette hair. Today I have used this cute little elf called Sitting Alva from the Magnolia Jingle Jangle collection. This collection came out after the Christmas collection in 2008.
To me, this image was one that I felt I could only use red and green on. But that's not the case at all, I have found a variety of uses with this image, and first it would be for the copic creations challenge and next for the Old Magnolia Challenge. This week this was the chosen image to work with and since I have it, I felt it was perfect to use for both challenges.

Here is a different angle on the card and a closer look at the way I colored her. I loved that these colors always work so well together. Good morning and Happy Aloha Friday! It's time for another chance to win something over on the In Style Stamps blog. Click on over to find out the details. Today I have for you a project using a new digital image of this cute cowboy! Notice how the country/western theme has come forward pretty quick in the stamp world? I think it's cute, especially if you need to make something for a guy. The project I made for today is a desk calendar made with some chipboard. I simply covered the 2 pieces with some designer paper and chose a few things to embellish with. Then I added the calendar and my colored cowboy image.

I then added a few pieces of post-it notes next to him. The reason I added that is because his hand is made into a gun shape like he is pointing to something. Since this paper is to jot down some little messages, he is pointing to show you what you've written there. (Hope that makes sense). lol. Take It Easy

Good morning! Today I have my Flutterby Wednesday card as promised. This time around, Danni has changed things up a bit. She will now be choosing a DT member to come up with the challenge for the week since we were all once the featured stamper of the week. She will however still keep the guest designers coming to create with us. This week the challenge was chosen by Kimmie. You must create a card using a fairy or a butterfly but with an outdoor scene.
So I decided to create with Tilda! I am not absolutely sure, but I think the background comes from the chasing butterflies collection. Please correct me if I am wrong. But, I know this is picnic Tilda. Doesn't she look so relaxed, peaceful and without a care in the world. Sometimes we all need days like this. lol. Well, to create this card I have used my copic airbrush system for the sky and grass background, and colored the rest in with my copics.

I've added a little paper piercing to the edges of the pink cardstock, glittered her wings and the sky with some stickles (star dust) and added the pretty prima flowers with jumbo brads for the centers. After choosing the stamps that I wanted to work with, the coloring and piecing of it all was quick and easy. I think she is one of my favorite Tilda stamps. =)

This is my second card using Ava! Perfect for girls, and any occassion too. I knew exactly that I had to color her wearing something pink, it just wouldn't look right in my opinion. I think these colors make her much sweeter!

I didn't want to add to many or any embellishments since the paper really speaks for itself. So the only thing I added was a rhinestone to the buckle of both Ethan and Ava's belt. A New Window

Thanks for joining me on my second post for the day. Today I am introducing a new digital image from In Style Stamps, and it is this window. Initially I had no idea what I was going to do make with this window but I was surprised at myself with the outcome! I love using this window and I think I will create something else with it soon.
This is sitting Ava, and most of you are familiar with her and all of her cuteness!! She is another digital image from In Style Stamps! So, what I did with this window was size it to fit Ava and also sized her to fit the window. ( A little bit of give and take with the 2). I wanted to give it the appearance of the window being apart of a building or home, so I used a neutral colored cardstock.

One other thing I just had to do was cut the windows with my x-acto knife and used some acetate sheet for the glass of the windows. I know it is hard to see it here but I wanted to keep things clean and clear. I have also added flowersoft to the window on the top and bottom as an accent. Last but not least, I colored and glittered Ava. I'd love to know what you think of this card and the new window.

Cherry Tilda

Here is my 3rd but last posting for the day. This is my card for the second challenge on the Old Magnolia Challenge Blog. The image chosen is Cherry Tilda. This Tilda was just perfect for the papers that I have wanted to use for a while, don't you think they were meant for each other? LOL. For those of you who aren't familiar with this challenge blog, all you have to do is check out the blog for the next Magnolia image to use and create a card or project then upload it to that posting for the week.
A new challenge will take place each Wednesday so stay tuned for a new one tomorrow. For my card I decided not to use a sketch from another challenge blog so I made up my own. I am rather pleased with the layout since it is not something too over embellished. I think because the paper has lots of detail already, not much else needs to be added to the card.

The one thing I did add were the rhinestones around the circle. This was just way too plain looking. Another fun thing I added and finally had a chance to use is my charm with cherries. The picture above this one is probably the best to see what the charm looks like.

Halfway to the Holidays

Yes, it's just about 6 months more until Christmas! If you have not started making Christmas cards, this is a great time to do so. This week's challenge is an open challenge on Christmas Stampin' All Year Long, so you can create anything you want. Here is the card I made for this week's challenge.
This is an image from Whipper Snapper Designs. They have very cute stamps and sentiments. The sentiment that I used is from Stampin' Up. Besides celebrating my Dad for Father's Day I found some time to clean out a part of my craft room and decided to work on the drawers of printed papers and stumbled upon these you see here. This is paper from Stampin' Up called Holiday Thyme. This is probably one of the first set of papers using the first set of In Colors. I was surprised that I still had this since it was just a great combination of colors. Usually I will use it up if it's something I really like.

Last but not least, this is my card that I sent to Teri for the one card swap. I just had to use this cutie! (Thank you to a special friend!) Since I received my stamps this has been only the first time using them. I think I got my first one earlier this year so it has been a while... lol.

Hanna Time & OCS

Happy Aloha Friday everyone, it's time for another challenge with Hanna Stamps! Here is one of my favorite sets that I just had to create with for the challenge. This week the challenge is to create with stars or stripes. So, I have used some striped designer paper and just because I didn't want to distract from the scene I have not added any stars the the background... instead I had drawn 2 white stars on her bike! It just didn't seem right to add more than the silver brads in each of the 4 corners and as I look at it again, I probably should have added something more. Oh well, you can't win 'em all! =)

I have created a background where it appears as a sunset. In case you're wondering why is appears to be some white areas in the sky, that is because I wanted it to have the effect of broken clouds in the sky. I tried to get the clouds to have some texture and did all of this with my copic airbrush system. I just love this! It gives all kinds of wonderful dimension. Butterflies and Stars

Happy Wednesday! I hope all of you are doing well and keeping cool in this crazy hot and humid weather. It's a great thing that the idea for a swimming pool came through, otherwise we'd all be taking cold showers all day long. lol. Anyway, it's Flutterby Wednesday so bring out your butterfly and fairy stamps and start stamping. This is challenge #62 and is an open challenge which means you can go to town with your card.
I have decided to go simple this time around so, I decided to choose a stamp from The Greeting Farm since to me they don't require a lot of embellishing and detail when placed on a card. I love these fairies and all the rest of the stamps from this line. One of the things I like about this card is the color combo, it's definitely one of my favorites. =)

CSAYL: Challenge #21

Welcome to Challenge #21 for Christmas Stampin' All Year Long. Yes you read that correct, time sure flies. This week's challenge is to create a card with eyelets, there is no limit to the amount or the colors you use.
This is my card for the week. I chose these colors based off of my background paper. Most would use pink and red for Valentine's Day and not for Christmas but I think that paper in those colors look so pretty and match nicely. I have added my eyelets to all 4 corners of my card.

Here's a close up of her and the shimmerz that I used on her wings. This is Tilda with Candy Cane from last year's Magnolia Christmas Collection. I have used her last year but had the opportunity to use her now due to this challenge and a new challenge that started up called The Old Magnolia Challenge. Delight in Simple Things

Time for another challenge with Copic Creations! Our new challenge is for you to create a card showing us how you color wood. As I was getting my ideas together for this challenge, I knew exactly what stamps I would use to make the card but never knew that I would have to use so many different colors just to get that wood-like appearance. This one was kind of hard for me to get it just the way I want it but had to go with this one.
I used this bridge deck that Tilda is sitting on. Not only was there less wood to color but I wanted to feature some kind of scene that symbolizes the season of Summer. I really enjoyed this challenge.

Chocolate Anyone?

Hey everyone, hope your weekend is going great so far! Yesterday was the stamp expo here in Hawaii. I got a chance to spend some time with the ladies at TaJ Clubhouse which I have not seen in a very long time. I also saw Jen, Rina and got to meet Jenny. It was really great to meet up with everyone again ,and, Jenny it was great to finally meet you!! Here's the card I created using an image from Alota Rubberstamps. These are chocolote covered bugs. This reminds me of a friend from highschool who said that she had the opportunity to try some chocolate covered ants, and chocolate grasshoppers. I think she did try it while she and her family were off on vacation. I really can't ever imagine trying something like that.

You can see here that I actually had a chance to do a little bit of sewing. I also popped up the little cups they are sitting in. One more thing is that I stamped the first image in black, the second one in brown for the chocolate coming down and the fully covered bug. =) After all that, I added some crystal effects for the chocolate.

Last I added some dew drops for accents in various colors to make it look like different colored candies.

Good morning, it's Friday! Yesterday was a holiday for most of us here in Hawaii so I took a day off of blogging and am back for a couple of announcements. This was an inspiration challenge so I chose to take the colors and created this card with one of the newest sets now available.

Happy Hump Day everyone! Today at Instyle Stamps, it's Wednesday Challenge day and the challenge is to create a card for the Summer. So what better image to use than Ariel don't you find her just adorable!! This was a fun theme!

I used the colors of my card to represent summer. The warmer and bolder colors. I have also added some pearls which I thought was appropriate since she does live under the sea.
Another finishing touch was adding some crystal lacquer to her fin, tail and seashell bra. Just before it dried, I had sprinkled some glitter to make her shiny. From the Heart

It's Flutterby Wednesday time! Butterflies always make me happy and so do Wednesdays, it tells me that I made it halfway through the week! This week our challenge is to create a card using a sketch and telling us where it came from. I did my card based upon a sketch from the
Just Magnolia Challenge. My sweet friend Rach has created this sketch.

This was a fun and easy sketch to use for the challenge. I love the brand new Wisteria papers from Basic Grey and just had to use it. Somehow this paper just reminds me of a wedding, I think because it's soft and sweet looking. I got to finally use this Tilda! Actually I have tons of Magnolia stamps that have been waiting to be used from last year. I got a supply of stuff that need to be used. Are any of you like that? I will get to them eventually, I'm in no rush.
When creating this card, I ended up coloring the image first and then choosing my papers. This is not my usual card making process. I will choose the stamp, paper and then color so that everything matches well. I got pretty lucky this time! After coloring I used my copic airbrush system for a little light behind Tilda and added some flowersoft to her basket of flowers. One thing I did to achieve that color of flowersoft was mix a little bit of green, blue and ivory. Then I used my copic pen and slightly colored the ivory for a little darker purple. I also ran 2 different ribbons around my card and the last thing added was the sentiment.

Surfah Billy

Welcome to sneak peek Day #2 for Pink Cat Studio's Sporty Billy. I actually did backwards posting of my cards yesterday. So, surfer Billy was supposed to be for yesterday and baseball Billy for today. Oops! Here he is, doesn't he look like he's having fun riding the waves with his pal?
He is one of my favorites from this set and I love the color combo of orange and shades of blues together, in this case, turquoise. Seeing the dog on the board with Billy reminds me so much of highschool days when my friends and I would surf and see some guys with their dogs on the ends of their surfboards. Dogs love the water too! =)

I colored my image with copics and have added some crystal lacquer to the board to give it a shiny, wet look and used my copic airbrush system for the light sunlight in the back of Billy.
