It's A Pink and Brown Kind of Day

Hello blogland, hope all is well with you. Today I have a card that I made using this week's sketch from Friday Sketchers. My friend Claudia who is the owner of this sketch challenge is looking for a guest designer who will create cards with the future sketches from the team and also be able to come up with a sketch of your own. Here is my try at the sketch challenge this week. I also wanted to show you these new and cute image from Stampavie. This stamp comes from the Rachelle Anne Miller Collection of Animals. I love these little guys. As a reminder, you still have time to participate in the Stampavie color challenge. All you need to do is create a card with pink and brown in it as well as a Stampavie stamp.

I colored them with my copics, and managed to find matching buttons and flowers to keep it all the same colors. I was very pleased to see all the pink it there... love pink! =)

My next card is made with a digital image from In Style Stamps. I never thought that I would love the individual mug, but I really like it. This mug can be used for so many different celebrations such as Christmas, Thanksgiving and birthdays.

I had to use pink and brown on this card too. I felt that it had to match the first card I did. LOL! I think I will give this card to a friend along with some coffee or hot chocolate. These are sweet colors. =)

Good morning everyone! First I would like to say Thank You so much for all of your emails and comments on wishing me a quick recovery from this bad cold that I have. I truly appreciate it all. I must say that only now I feel a little bit of a relief. It's a short post for me today.
Today is flutterby day and that would mean, it's Wednesday!! Yay! I can't wait for the weekend, depending how I feel I need to do something fun!! This week Danni has us creating cards with using only red, white and blue. This was a challenge for me because I am not used to creating with these colors unless it's close to the 4th of July.
So, I decided to use my butterfly punch from Martha Stewart and added some pearls to the centers of each butterfly to represent the body. Then kept the bottom middle circle open for the sentiment of thanks.

Here is a side view of the card to show you that I popped it up with some dimensionals but only added it to the center of the butterfly to have the wings flap.

Elf Anya

This weekend we had out of town guests (my hubby's friend and his wife) come for a week and visit friends and family. Unfortunately, I was not able to hang out with them because of this horrible cold that I am trying to get rid of. Maybe I will see them before they leave on Wednesday for a short while. The good thing is that they visit a few times in the year. I sure hope to feel better real soon, being sick is never fun. Well, it's another wonderful sketch made by Maria!! You guessed it, it's time for another Christmas card with Christmas Stampin' All Year Long!
I decided that for my card, I would bring out Elf Anya since I purchased her after the holidays. Isn't she cute! I have not seen her for sale after the holidays, maybe she will be as it gets closer to Christmas. So if I make my Christmas card now I know for sure that I used her. I actually was not sure if I would be able to participate in the challenge this week because I was in bed the entire weekend, but decided to at least color my image first and then I still had a little energy left to finish the sketch part. I'm so glad that I did complete it because it looks like the perfect sketch for this image.

I had the opportunity to use some copics colors that I have not been able to until today and was happy to see that they turned out the way I wanted it to, especially to match the papers that I planned for it. Speaking of copics, I have had many requests for copic tutorials and that is exactly what I will do. I will be coming up with tutorials on how to color some things such as hair, clothes, and various objects. If there are tutorials that you would like to see, please leave your suggestions in a post or an email~I'd love to know.

InSyle Stamps Blog Hop!

It's a late posting for me today, I woke up with a sore throat, headache and a runny nose. What a way to wake up in the morning. Anyhoo, it's my first blog hop with In Style Stamps that starts today and ends on Saturday at midnight. A winner will be chosen on Sunday.
Here is how it will go:

What the designers had to do was base their project around the theme of "contain yourself" . So I decided to use a simple container that you can buy in the store (glad ware) and dress it up. In this case I filled it up with some puppy treats and used this cute doggie from InStyle and made a belly band to decorate. Along with that I created a card to match.
Here is a side view of the container and the belly band that I used to wrap around it. Since the treats are for a puppy I decorated the belly band and made it look like a collar. So to create that effect, I got my crop-a-dile, punched some holes, then added the silver eyelets to make that collar look. Then I added my image of the dog as a topper. Isn't he cute!! He's got a treat tied to his tail!
Since the treats will be going to our family dog who lives with my parents, I made a card that will be written to her from my little puppy that lives with my hubby and I. Just something fun! =)

Here is what they both look like side by side. I love making sets of things that match. For the card, I have also made a band to go across and have added eyelets to it too. This time instead of using silver eyelets, I opted to use black eyelets and in a smaller version to match the size of the card. I also found a sentiment from a stampin' up set and added it in the center.

I have a feeling this may be the simplest project made by the DT and hope that it's not a bad thing.

This is Lily with her snorkel gear. She is definitely ready to hit the water and check out all the fish and other ocean life! For this card, I have also used crystal effects to bring out the goggles on her head and her fins.

Here is a better pic of the areas I used the crystal effects on. These are one of my favorite color combinations for the summer, lately I am loving orange with other colors. I never used to care for it that much.=)

A Little Mermaid

Good morning! Here we are on the second day for the new Pink Cat Studio stamps and my next card is Lily the mermaid. As soon as I saw this stamp, I immediately thought of the little mermaid.
This was another fun and cute image of Lily. As soon as I saw her, I had to color her just like Ariel the Little Mermaid. Instead of using my airbrush system I decided to try and make the sky by coloring it with just the copic pen. It turned out ok, but I would much rather have the airbrushed way.

As I made the card I decided to add another tail in the water since it would match the sentiment. In this set, there are some womderful sentiments to match these images and can be used interchangably with each other.

It's also Flutterby Wednesday! This week there is no theme, I was so happy to find out that Danni has chosen me to be the featured stamper this week! Thanks Danni!

This is my card for the week. I just LOVE butterflies! I am so loving these cute stamps and can't wait to use the others! Lily at the Beach: Sneak Peek Day #1

It's sneak peek time with Pink Cat Studio!! This time Lily is headed for the beach! These images are absolutely adorable and I'm sure you'll agree when you see them. My first card is of Lily sitting on a turtle. I had so much fun making this card and being able to use bold colors for the Summer. My card is based off of a sketch from Mojo Monday a couple of weeks back. As I was making this card and piecing it together, I decided to create a 3D layer for the turtle's shell. So, I stamped him twice and cut the top of his shell, and popped it higher. I also popped up his head and feet for another added effect.

After I added the embellishments, it still seemed unfinished so I added some crystal effects to the shell of the turtle and made it look shiny as if he were glistening in the sun or shall I say sun bathing in the sun.

My next image is of Lily with an Inner Tube. She is ready to jump in the water for some fun in the sun!! Don't these stamps make you want to plan your next summer vacation? To create the background of Lily, I used my copic airbrush system that you can get over at 7 kids college fund. I used yellow for the background of the sky and brown for the bottom where the sand would be. I have also purchased my copic sketch pens from 7 kids college fund too.

I think lately I have been in the mood to pop images off the card, I really do love the 3 dimensional look but just had to make a little extra time to cut it out and mount it. It really does not take that long, but one of the things that could be time consuming is cutting very small objects. This photo shows that I have cut and mounted the inner tube around Lily's waist and I have added crystal effects to this as well for that plastic appeal.

Spring Has Sprung

Hope all of you are having a great weekend so far. Today I have a card of a sweet little donkey from Alota Rubberstamps. These are one of my most favorite stamps because he's just so cute! I had lots of fun making this card! I think because I really wanted to get the correct shade for coloring--gotta love a challenge!

After having colored my image, I realized that I had not chosen the paper. When I make a project or card, I find it tons easier to choose the paper first.=) It took soooo long for me to find what I wanted to use..LOL!. Well, this card measures at 5 1/2" all around.

Love Is In The Air

It's finally Friday!! That took forever, LOL! I know all of you are happy about that too! =)
Here is another new image from In Style Stamps. It's a great image to have especially around Valentine's Day, Wedding or Anniversary. Actually with the hearts on the wings, it could be used for all kinds of occassions.
I wanted to create a card with several layers just because I really have not made one in a while. If you have not been to In Style Stamps before, click HERE. In this photo, I show you a close up of the image, and that I added some crystal lacquer to the windows of the plane just so it "could" look real. It was fun to color it!

Up For A Challenge?

How many of you were able to participate in the first challenge from Copic Creations? Well if you missed it, we've got more coming your way. Today starts challenge #2 and for the next 2 weeks, the challenge is jeans. So find your image, create a card using your copics and upload your creation to the current posting on the site.
Here is the card I created for the challenge and of course used my copics to color the image. I really felt that this card did not need to have many accessories on it just because the image is so full of detail. I love these adorable images. Both the copics and the Sarah Kay stamps can be found at the 7 kids college fund online store!!

Card or Image Folder Tutorial

Good morning, today I finally got a chance to take some pictures to show you how I made my folder with the gorjuss girls for my friend Joy. I will do my best to show you step by step details. There are quite a bit of photos but thought that this would make it easier to follow.

1. The supplies that you will need include 8 1/2" X 11" Cardstock, a pair of scissors, any ribbon of your choice, sticky tape, and a scoring tool (either a scor-pal or your paper trimmer and a scoring blade).

2. Turn your cardstock with the short side (8 1/2") at the top , just like the picture below. Score it at 5 1/2" all the way to the bottom.
3. You will turn your cardstock with the 11" going across the top like the photo below. Score it at the 5 1/2" mark. This will be the center fold of the folder.

4. Now, fold along all the scored lines that you have made in both directions.

5. The photo below shows you the pockets that you have just folded.

6. Now, take your scissors and cut on the flap that you folded up. You will be cutting directly in the middle of the 2 pockets.

7. Next, (see photo below) you will be taking your scissors and cutting a skinny triange on the inside of the pocket and on the outside. The pocket have angles tapering inward.

8. Next, (optional) you can fold a little flap over about 1/2" to 1" to give it a different effect.

9. To hold in the folded flap of the pocket and to adhere it to the folder, I have punched 2 holes for each pocket and placed brads to hold it all.

10. The photo below shows you what the folder will look like when it is closed. It comes out to a 5 1/2" square.

11. Take out your sticky tape and place a strip across the middle of the closed folder. You will apply sticky tape to both the front and back of your folder. This will be used to attach your ribbon for the closure.

12. Choose your paper which will then go over the ribbon. This will secure everything in place and will not show where you have the ribbon coming out of. Decorate as desired.

13. Here is the completed folder that you can either use for cards or for stamped images and give as a gift. I have also created folders that are smaller and larger depending on the type of cards I am making and the size of the images I am sharing.

This will finish as a 5 1/2" square and can easily be mailed.

I hope this tutorial was easy to follow and my directions were clear. If anyone tries this out, please email me your creation and I will post it here for all to see.
