Magazine Holder Tutorial

As promised, here is the tutorial for the Magazine Holder.
Here are the supplies you will need to create it. I lost my attachment of the scoring blade so I had to improvise with the bone folder.

Well, this was the best way for me to show you what your cardstock shall look like after you have scored all the lines.

First cut your cardstock to 8 3/4" x 7". The picture above may not be so clear with the numbers but the one below is clearer. You may click on each photo to see the numbers better.

After you have gotten all your scored lines done, you will now cut on all of the solid lines.

Now you will fold on all the dashed lines.

Here, you will fold over the flap to create the bottom of the holder.

Here is what the base of the magazine holder will look like.

Now you can start by adding sticky strip to keep the flaps down and adhere top to bottom.

Here I have decorated with some designer paper and ribbon along with a sentiment.

This is the completed product and I have created 3x3 cards to fit perfectly!!

Love Is In The Air

I just adore these cute stamps from Pink Cat Studio and had to create something more with them. I found Billy as cupid a very cute stamp and had to make more than just one card. This is a magazine holder I made to hold 3x3 cards. I found this on a blog a long while ago and can't remember which blog it is. Anyway, I changed a little part of the instructions so that it would fit better. I will be posting the tutorial on how to make these later today.

My apologies for the blurry pic, not sure what happened here. Anyway, I just love these colors together for Valentine's Day, it's something different from the predictable pink and red. I used my nestabilities to create all 3 cards. Speaking of nestabilities, if you love them like many of us do, you can pre-order your nestabilities HERE. You will also find there are sooo many great things in the store, I know I did. =)

Another angle to show you that I was trying to make the wings l0ok realistic--well almost.

So, I used fun flock for the wings and then added some glitter.

Here is a card I made using Kiki with Cupcake. Another Valentine card done! I think this is one of the cuties from this set. She is a great versatile stamp...you can create tags, add to a boc of cupcakes, etc.

Here is a closeup of the stamp. I used glitter on the cupcake (sorry you can't really see it) to give the card a little push.

Pretty Essentials

I just got these in...the oval and circle bordered stamps that match perfectly with the nestabilities! They are from Alota Rubberstamps. I just love these stamps! They are so cute and so versatile for several occasions. I decided to create a card using the oval hearts stamp and matched it up perfectly with the oval stencil. I think it came out ok. =)

Here I colored her lollipop, then used crystal lacquer to give it the shiny effect in the above picture.

Lastly, this is the inside of the card that uses the small heart border punch from Marth Stewart, a sentiment from Alota Rubberstamps, and the new SU Heart punch.

LOVE My Pink Cat Stamps--DT Challenge

Yesterday was the start of the first Pink Cat Studio DT Challenge on Paper Craft Planet. I was waiting for some pieces to dry for my card before I pieced it all together and here is the result of it. This is my entry for the challenge...not to win but just to join in all the Pink Cat fun!! =)
As mentioned yesterday, this awesome challenge was created by DT member Janna. Here's the information for the challenge:

Description:
Since Valentine's Day is coming up fast, I have a LOVE themed Challenge for you! But this isn't any old love themed challenge, this is a special one! My challenge for you is to create a card or project with at least four elements (you can have more if you would like), but four of your elements have to spell LOVE. For example, you can use Layers, Ovals, Violet, and Embellishments; see spells love. Or you could use Lily, Owls, Very pretty sequins and Emerald brads. Spells love. The possibilities are endless and yes, V can stand for very! Just remember that four of your elements must spell LOVE. Have Fun, can't wait to see what you come up with!Date the challenge ends: Tuesday February 10th, 5 pm EST.

Requirements:

I decided to use the stamps from the Lily and Tweet stamp set. Here is the translation of my card for L.O.V.E.
L=Lily
O= Oval and Orange
V= Violet

I had so much fun with the challenge and working with this stamp. I love how Lily can be any color combination because she is a glamour girl. =) As long as she has bling, she looks perfect for the occassion. I also had a chance to do a little bit of sewing on my card for an added embellishment.
I have tried to make Tweet as detailed as I could with the glitter. So I took this pic to show you that I gave Tweet some shiny gold glasses to go with the entire look. I also used silver stickles on Lily's ring for the diamond, and used silver liquid pearls to accent her necklace.

New Challenge & Award

Flowers For You

Good Monday morning bloggers! Hope all of you had a great weekend! This weekend we celebrated Chinese New Year (Kung Hee Fat Choy everyone!), and we celebrated my grandmother's 90th Birthday!!! She looks nothing near 90 years old, she's one of the lucky ones who has really good genes. For today's card I decided to make something a little Spring-like. I love the colors of Spring and these colors are perfect. I was in luck to find this pretty paper lying in my stash...none other than Basic Grey of course. =) When I saw this stamp from Alota Rubberstamps, I thought this image was cute... reminds me of when I was in high school...lol .

The other reason I like this stamp is that you can use it for any occassion, like Valentine's Day, Christmas, Thinking of you cards etc. Just change the colors of their clothing to match the holiday. Well, enjoy the rest of your day and thanks so much for stopping by.

A Perfect Fit

Hey everyone, I needed to have a day just knowing I could rest and relax without having anything important to do or anywhere important to be. I am finally on the road to getting over that horrible cold everyone seems to be having all over the world. =) Anyway today I am introducing 2 brand new sets of stamps from Alota Rubberstamps! I just fell in love with them as soon as Helene made it available to us. The first one (above) is called The Pretty Essential Circles and the one below is the Pretty Essential Ovals. Sweet Valentine

Don't you just love the cute Valentine Magnolia stamps? Tilda's got her letter ready for that special someone. I created this box to place a gift in here for my sweet little niece on Valentine's Day. I still have to figure out what to get for it. LOL. This box can also be used for 3x3 cards and envelopes. To create this box, head on over to Splitcoast for the instructions.

This is what the top of the box looks like. I used Tilda with Envelope and colored her with my copics. I cut her out and placed dimensionals behind her to pop the image up. I also placed dimensionals under the square scallops. I have also added some hearts as an accent. These hearts came from the new Stampin' Up punch which makes 3 different sizes! Contact me to place an order for your Stampin' Up needs. =)This is not such a great picture to show I made a scallop edge around the top of the box using my corner rounder. Pink Cat Paper Craft Challenge

I have decided to create a simple card since the paper will stand out for itself (the dots). This card was made because I love the new Kiki Kitty Stamps that has just been released from Pink Cat Studio, and also for the challenge over on Paper Craft Planet for Pink Cat Studio. The challenge is to create a card using a critter from Pink Cat, has to have the color pink and to use scallops and /or glitter. Head on over to check it out!

I have been trying to fight off a cold now for about 1 week, and since I went back to work I end up having to talk to our patients which makes my voice a bit more irritated. So, now I have lost my voice. It just sounds really hoarse. I think it sounds bad and others think it's pretty sexy. LOL! =) I hate being sick. Spring Will Be Here Soon

For most of you who live in areas that have tons of snow, I know you can't wait until Winter is over. Well, I know what I am about to say can't be compared to most of you who live in cold, snowy areas. Here in Hawaii, the weather has been pretty cold, sometimes freezing for some. We have experienced a low of 49 degress in some areas. Yeah, I know some of you are either laughing or thinking -- whatever, that's nothing! I actually like cool weather but it freezing cold weather. LOL! Anyway, I had colored my Elf (her name is Alva) when the collection came out but I totally forgot about it. Since I found her tonight, I had to use her fora card. =)
She is sitting on a flower that I colored to look like Spring, but somehow it looks like Summer...
Speaking of Summer, I got all of my images from Roses on Paper. You may want to head over there to check out the new stuff she will bring in. One of which is all of the stamps from The Greeting Farm, more Magnolia stamps, Ink Pads and sooo much more! If you would like to preorder your stamps for The Greeting Farm, drop Summer an email and she'll take care of the rest. =) Back to the card, I stamped the flower image 3 times to get that look. I stamped the flower she sits on, cut it out and popped it up with some dimensionals (mounting tape). Then I sponged in the grass and background for the sky. I punched out my sentiment and used dimensionals to pop that up too. Lastly, I added flowers to match.

ROP Challenge #4

Good morning! Can you believe it's already the fourth challenge for Roses on Paper? That just came so quickly. Anyway, the challenge this week is to follow a sketch created by fellow DT member Anki, and to use spring colors. So, I chose pink, yellow and green. This was a great sketch to follow, it brought so many different layers to my card along with a variety of embellishments. =)

This challenge could not have come at a better time since my cousin's daughter asked me to create a card for her friend so she could thank her for the sleepover on the weekend. So this is why I use Tilda with her Teddy bear. I hope she likes it!

Paper Craft Planet Challenge #3

Pink Cat Studio--Release Day Today!!

Good Thursday morning to all of blogland! Today is the day to get your 2 new and cute set of stamps from Pink Cat Studio!! So, the card I made for today uses a stamp from the Lily and Billy Sweethearts set. I love this stamp of Lily, she reminds me of myself when I used to daydream about someone I really liked.
I gave her a name... to me, she is Daydreaming Lily. =) She is daydreaming about Billy.
I chose the sentiment (also in the set) Je t'aime, which means I love you.
I stamped the words 3 times to get the length I wanted the sentiment to be and used my corner rounder punch to round the edges of the paper. Normally, I would use the word window punch for this shape, but the sentiment was too long. ( I had to improvise).

Pink Cat Studio Sneak Peek--Day #3

Here we are on the 3rd day for the sneak peeks of 2 brand new set of stamps from
Pink Cat Studio! For my first card, I used a stamp from the Lily and Billy Sweetheart set which has Lily and Billy back to back. I love this stamp, it is my favorite one from this set! It reminds me of my hubby and I. We are so right for each other!! =)
Anyway, the sentiment is also from the same set of stamps. This set is perfect for Valentine's Day and many other occassions--you just have to see all the stamps in the set. Tomorrow I will be posting all of the images in the 2 releases.

Here is a different view of the card to show you the sewing on my card in pink thread, and to show you that I used the NEW Martha Stewart heart border punch on the piece that is running down the side of the card. I love this new punch!! =)

My second card is of Kiki Kitty with Balloons. She is looking up at the balloons and at the one getting away. But not to worry, she is still happy and having a great day. I thought adding a balloon that is flying away gives it some action for the card. =)

I have also added some piercing on my paper for a little decoration in the corners.

This is a closer picture to show you the piercing I did on my card and so you can see the balloon that got away. I added some mounting tape to give that effect. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to visit me, I hope your week is going well. =)

Pink Cat Studio Sneak Peek--Day 2

Here we are on sneak peek day 2! Pink Cat Studio will be releasing their new sets on Jan. 15th. Cute little Lily with Heart is another image found in the Lily and Billy Sweethearts stamp set. The coolest thing besides the image is the heart that she is holding. When you stamp her the heart has nothing in it, so Melissa has made the perfect sized wordings to stamp in the heart! I just loved that! =) So I chose Be Mine.

I love pink sooo much that I had to create a card that has nothing more than just various shades of pink in it... lol! Here is a close up of the card and here you can see I used liquid pearls in silver to accent the scallop edged circle, and how I added the silver hardware and ribbon.

This next card was created using the Kiki Kitty stamps. Here she is doing the Hula and looking sassy with that pretty flower on her ear. To create this card I used my cuttlebug embossing folder for the background, did some paper piercing around the edges of my image and did some sewing on the orange borders of the lower half of my card. I'm really liking my sewing. =)
